Synopsis

There are respective abandoned mines that had been once copper mines with same name of Ilkwang in two countries, Japan and Korea. Two areas have a the same history of the compulsory manpower draft as well as the same name, but their current situations are so different from each other nearly six decades later.
Japan glamorized historical facts and transformed the abandoned mine of copper into a tourist attraction, but Korea shut down the mine, forgotten the history of the compulsory manpower draft. And people still cherish the memory of the victims of the compulsory manpower draft in Ilkwang in Japan, but there are the records about victims forced to do hard labor by the Japanese colonial government in Ilkwang in Korea. One day, the abandoned mine of Ilkwang in Busan, vomiting red water and holding itself erect, asks me to compose the requiem for the Korean victims of the compulsory manpower draft.
