Lee Dong-hanBullies (2013)In South Korea, studying at a good college is the most important thing for teenagers. But actually this is not their own dream; they’re just following their parent’s wishes.
But not all teenagers follow that path…
Before being a filmmaker, I once worked as a social worker and met many troubled teenagers who didn’t have dreams at all. Then, in 2015, in a newspaper, I saw a photo of teenage boys carrying bows. They looked naïve and unpolished but very determined, at the same time.
Curious, I went to meet them in search for their life’s ambitions.
They told me "Shooting the perfect 10 points is my dream!" I was surprised to hear that simple answer, because I expected them to aim higher and say, “I want to be a member of the national archery team” like so many other young athletes. But they didn’t. I was intrigued.
Then, I started filming them.
