Synopsis

Sukiyabashi Jiro', a sushi restaurant in Ginza, downtown Tokyo. Though being apparently small and humble, it is a top-rated restaurant that the Michelin Guide recognizes. And Jiro Ono is the oldest chef awarded the three stars in the Michelin Guide's history. He has a dream of making better sushi tomorrow than today.

Review

The main character, Jiro, in my recommended film, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, must seem familiar from TV news. The sushi restaurant is where the Japanese Prime Minister took the US President when he visited Japan. Jiro is the one who introduced sushi to the rest of the world. It was thanks to him that sushi became known as a sophisticated gourmet dish. I think his unique aura influences food and makes people want to taste it. When it comes to food, the taste doesn’t just depend on what goes into it. Rather, our senses are affected by everything around us. We can further explore this idea through this documentary. I’d like to watch with the audience a story about one man related to food.
