Review

A curious teenager finds out more about B-movies. As befits the subject matter, the story unfolds in a humorous and daring manner. The director screens B-movies for a group of students and listens to their feedback. Next, she consults filmmakers, podcast producers, and self-professed C-class directors and actors. The film takes us closer to the identity of B-movies, and introduces us to people who love such movies. Those on the production team freely exhibit their own B-class sentiments. To be more precise, the director makes a clever and brave use of B-class sentiments. It’s very difficult to effectively and consistently incorporate B-class ideas into a film, and an inadequate attempt at mimicry will result in a failure. However, the production team fulfills this difficult task through the unpredictable development, witty editing, spontaneous compositions, abrupt yet serious questions and in-depth answers. Above all, their own personalities become their biggest weapon. Perhaps it’s all because they are such fun-loving people. [AHN Seulki]
